    Talking On Balance vs. In Balance

    Which is correct? Is there a rule of thumb regarding "on balance" versus "in balance?" Please help.

    On balance = taking all factors into consideration

    In balance = The outcome is about to be determined.

    Both are correct. To answer your question "Which is correct?", you will need to provide a context for each.
