In the hospital, when somebody dies... we have this meter that shows a straight line and sound ¨tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit¨.. . What do you call it?
And how do I describe the lines that goes ¨up and down¨, it goes straight when you´re dead.
When a person is under this heart monitor the lines go up and down relative to his heart beat and when he dies it goes flat due to zero heartbeat.
What do we call the ¨lines¨ that go up and down and flat when you´re dead?
Main Entry: flat·line
Function: intransitive verb
1 a : to register on an electronic monitor as having no brain waves or heartbeat b : DIE
Definition of flatline - Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary
As I said, I don't have the foggiest notion what the up & down lines are called. Maybe there's no name needed. If you're not flatlining, you're doing okay.
I hope somebody with the some medical knowledge could see this thread. I think Anglika does. I´ll cross my fingers for Anglika to see this.
