    Turn of the century

    Does the phrase turn of the century refer to the century that is ending or the one that is beginning? Is circa 1900 the turn of the 19th century or the turn of the 20th?

    Re: Turn of the century

    It means at the beginning of the new century.

    1900 = 20th century
    2000 = 21st century

    We are now in the 21st century.
