    Smile Clearing doubts on tenses

I apologize if my question is very elementary. I was just wondering if the following is correct:

"I volunteered to design the poster as it is my hobby"

I'm just confused about the tenses in the sentence. What I really want to say is that in the past I volunteered to design the poster and that designing poster is a hobby the time I volunteered and until now. Can I have an advice on the better tense to use in this case?

    Thank you in advance!

    Re: Clearing doubts on tenses

As designing posters is my hobby, I volunteered to design theirs.
