Smile What is true about the boy?

Question: What is true about the boy?
Possible choices: A. He is creative. B. He hurt his elbow. C. he is overweight. D. He has an injury.

The above is a listening test question with a picture. The correct answer is D.
Could I say "What is true of the boy?" instead of the underlined part? If not, why not? Thanks.

    Thanks, soup.
By the way, does "what is true of the boy" sound right? If yes, what does it mean?

Re: What is true about the boy?

In that context, of implies personal, non-descriptive information about the boy.

    Thanks, Soup.
I think you're right, but it's tricky for me. Could you tell the difference between "what is true of the boy" and "what is true about the boy" in a few words?

You're really sharp in discerning the subtle difference between them, but they are almost the same to me. Maybe in our language, we don't distinguish these two ideas as clearly as yours does.

If direct translation could buy us language fluency, we wouldn't need books on grammar & usage.
