    two questions

    1. This technique is a common and useful idiom.

what does "idiom" mean in this sentence? does it mean something like "approach"?

    2. The idiom creates more short lived objects.

this means it creates more objects but they live for short time, or it creates objects which live for shorter time?

    2. The idiom creates more short lived objects.

this means it creates more objects but they live for short time, or it creates objects which live for shorter time? "short-lived objects" means objects that don't last long (live for a short time)
    Hope the above helps.
