    gerund

I have to write a sentence like this but I have to use gerund: I'm proud of myself because I'm clever.
Is it right if I say: I'm proud of myself being clever ?

Does the following sentence work here: "Being clever (as I am), I am proud of myself"? The "as I am" part might be, I reckon, left out, and the "being" suggests the causality: this sentence, then, would mean: "I am proud of myself because I am clever".

Could you let me know if I am right or not? (I am not saying this sentence is better or more elegant than Soup's one, but simply want to know if it is correct.)
