    I was wondering

    Hello,

Please could you explain to me the meaning of the following sentence concerning the tenses?

I was wondering if he will help me.

I was wondering is the past tense, so does it mean that I am no more wondering if he will help me?

    When to use
    I wonder.....
    I am wondering.....
    I have been wondering....
    I was wondering.....
    ?

    Thanks a lot.
