    Smile married/got married

She got married, but later divorced. She returned home to the U.K. with her baby daughter Jessica.

I wonder if I could say "she married" instead without making a change in meaning? Thanks.

    Yes.

She married and (then) later divorced.

    Thanks, Soup.
But is there any subtle difference between them? Thanks.
