    What's up?

    Hi all,

If someone says what's up/what gives to me, what am I then supposed to answer?

    Thank you very much.

It means 'what's going on' or 'what have you been doing'. Give them your news.

I agree with Tdol about "What's up?" but "What gives?" tends to denote that the speaker is suspicious about something.
