    help with the word define!

    Help me please...

If I want to say "in order to say the caracteristics of a person" can I used instead "in order to define a person".. I mean.. can the word define be used with this meaning?

    Thank you

Pd: can I use finish of doing something or just finish doing?

You can - it is not quite usual, and would imply that you are analysing their personality and/or social status, rather than describing their physical traits.

    Thank you

p.s.: can I use finish of doing something or just finish doing? You finish doing something.

Re: help with the word define!

If you want to describe the characteristics, why don't you simply use the verb to characterize instead of to define?!

You can define the meaning of the word "person" but it sounds weired to define the person itself. What you are then doing is characterizing the person.
