    When we use the same letters to start words, like, "the slimy snakes slithered to the silly snails" is this called illiteration, if not what's it called please. I've forgotten the word. Thanks.

    The correct word is alliteration. In your sentence ,you can talk about consonantal alliteration.

    Illiteracy
    means the lack of ability to read and write.
