    compare to/with ?

    Is there any difference between compare with and compare to ??

    Let me try: uhm!
    They both sound good so I think they are interchangeable.
    Googleing Iíve found this little difference: use to when you want show similarities between what youíre examining, with in general.
    Do you agree?

    To me, "compared with" is slang. But it's used a lot. I'd much prefer "compared to" in formal language.

    Compared to George Bush, Bill Clinton is a genius.

    Really, the difference is in the degree of formality, not in the meaning.

    There's a similar question of usage between "different from" and "different than." They mean the same, but many people don't like "different than." (I'm one of them)

    If it weren't for the prepositions, English would be a fairly easy language.
