    underpass vs. tunnel

    Hi there.

    Are 'underpass' and tunnel' mean the same thing in US?

    Sometimes. But when a tunnel's particularly long it can't be an underpass. For example - not US, but I'm 'geographically challenged' in that respect - the Channel Tunnel (linking England to France) isn't an underpass. An underpass usually leads a road under another road.
