    Please explain

    Is these sentence correct:

I look forward to meeting you.

My question is if I can use "to meeting", if the answer is yes, can you give me another example, or this is an exemption.

    Re: Please explain

    Hi,

Yes, this sentence is correct. 'To look forward' (to anticipate) is the verb in this sentence. The second 'to' is not a part of the infinitive, but a preposition, since the verb 'look forward' requires both, a preposition and a gerund (the -ing form of the verb).

There are verb that require an infinitive, for example, 'I expect to win,' or gerund, for example 'I finished eating,' others require a preposition and a gerund (together), for example, 'He admitted to stealing the candy,'

    I hope it helps,
    Iza

I agree with Izabela. This sentence is fine and not at all unusual.

I look forward to seeing you Friday.
I look forward to visting your town.

In these cases, the -ing verbal is a gerund. It is a verb form that becomes a noun. We are looking forward to [an action].
