    talking about preferences.

    Would it be ok to use a gerund after 'would prefer'?

    I had always thought a to-infinitive should be used after it until I saw this sentence
    'I'd rather eating Italian'
    on English as 2nd Language - Learn English

    "I'd prefer /I would prefer" normally uses 'to + infinitive'.

    "I'd rather eating Italian" is ungrammatical, Erdogan. But yes, you can use a "be +[verb]ing" after <I'd rather>.


    I'd rather be eating Italian.
