The most profitable are wheat and gold
How the exchange rate of the dollar has developed over the last six months and how this influences world commodity prices
Gold, oil or wheat – these are the best investments over the last several months. Commodity prices have soared due to the weak dollar and the volatility of the stock markets. In the last month there was the quickest grow of the price [price of what? or do you mean commodity prices?] for the last 32 years.
For example somebody who bought wheat for 1 million crowns at the commodity exchange called the Chicago Board of Trade, made a profit of 100,000 crowns, though the dollar rate at which wheat is sold fell by 1 crown to a historical minimum of 19,32 Kč/USD in the same period and so overseas investment was depreciated slightly. Moreover, the rise in commodity prices is still not finished according to businessmen.
Even Czechs buy more commodities.
The American central bank (Fed) especially delighted commodity investors and stockbrokers when it cut interest rates in the U.S.A from 5.25 to 4.75 per cent. In addition, the bank indicated further cuts in interest rates.
´It is very profitable for businessmen. Lower rates cause higher inflation and that´s why investors try to protect against rises in prices by g of commodities such as gold,´said Bloomber Chip Hanlon from the American counselling company Delta Global Advisors.
Commodities are suddenly cheaper for investors outside the USA. They are cheaper because of the weak exchange rate of the dollar which is at its lowest in history against six most important currencies, including the Euro and the Yen.
Boss of Czech commodity company Colosseum, Jiří Štastný confirms higher focus on these specific investments. ´The number of clients has grown in the last few months. They have noticed that commodities are quite profitable. Czechs are mostly interested in gold and oil – best-known and most propagated in the media,´ said Mr Štastný who negotiates purchases of gold, oil and other commodities for Czech investors on the stock exchanges in London and the U.S.A.
