    Smile end up going to the movie

    Tom was asked by his mom to buy a bag of salt but ended up going to movie.
    Tom was asked by his mom to buy a bag of salt but ended up with a bag of candy.



    Do the above sound right and good? If not, how would you word them? Thanks.

    It might be clearer if you said:
    Tom's mom asked him to buy a bag of salt, but he ended up returning home with a bag of candy instead.
