Red face Is it pronoun or adjective?

Hi, I have a question about possesive pronouns and possesive adjectives. I have problems on identifiying them.

He was baptized in the small church at Stratford shortly after his birth.

Is "his" on the phrase "his birth" an adjective or a pronoun?

I would really appreciate it if you can help me with this! Thank you!!

Re: Is it pronoun or adjective?

I believe it has the form of a possessive adjective. It can only be so called if it has a noun to modify after it. If,however, the sentence read 'His moving story was listened to with interest.' 'His' is here acting as a possessive pronoun.
    Good Luck.
