    To take something for granted?

    Hi,

Could someone tell me what "to take something for granted" means, and provide me with example sentences? Thanks in advance.

Children take it for granted that their parents will feed them

Clean water is taken for granted by the Western nations.

Cold weather in winter is taken from granted by those living in Russia.

Many people take it for granted that the ESL forums will prove answers.

It means to accept something as true without questioning it

Some children take it for granted that they will always get treats on the holidays.

He takes it for granted that I will help him, but I am starting to feel used now.

To "take something for granted" is to assume that it will always be done. Sometimes you assume someone is always willing to do something because they have done it in the past, so you don't try to please them as much as you would if you were not sure of their help..
