    Keep house/keep the house

Could you suggest me a mnemonic hint to recognize
to keep house (do cleaning, ironing, washing and so on) and
to keep the house (stay at home).

    Re: Keep house/keep the house

    Hi there,

housekeeping could help you to remember the difference? And that would be the cleaning thing. Housekeeping at hotels, housekeeper does the cleaning...actually a very commonly used word.
    Hope this helped!

Where did you learn that "to keep the house" means "stay at home". I think this refers to a decision to not sell the house. I decided to keep the house.

You could use "keep to the house".

If you want to keep house , keep to the house!
If you want to do housekeeping, stay at home!
