Hello, I was reading an advanced level book when I came across the word "shyer". It surprised me and did a quick search in google, where I found some more examples. I even found a dictionary that mentions it as a variant spelling of "shier". So is this correct? I thought after a consonant "y" changes into "i" before "er", no exceptions. Thank you.
