    phrase and grammar

    Dear teachers,

I have two questions to ask:

    No.1
She knew she had to make up for the time she had lost.
My question is: Can I use 'make up ' instead of 'make up for' in this sentence? I asked so because there is the following sentence in my dictionary:

Fortunately, my professor let me make up the exam I missed yesterday. It seems in this sentence 'made up ' bears the same meaning with 'make up for'. Is that right?

    No.2
Discussit with your fellow students if you have any difficulty.
This sentence means the speaker doesn't know if the students have any difficulties or not.
My question is: Can I use 'some' instead of 'any' ?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you in advance.

    Jiang

    Re: phrase and grammar

    1 Yes, you can.
2 It's possible, but 'any' works better IMO.
