    Sweet nothings

    Hi~

What does the phrase "whispering sweet nothings in your ear" mean?

    Thanks!

Oh I see.. But why 'nothings'? What precisely are soft words of love?

They are called "nothings" because they really have no special meaning other than the fact that a woman likes to hear them (men too).

"I love you!" can be a sweet nothing if it is only said during a romantic moment. The words sound sweet to the ear of the person listening even though she/he knows the person is not truly in love with him/her.

Not necessarily 'in the ear', Veron but often that's the image, maybe the reality. Possibly if one is looking in the eyes of a lover, there could be a stronger possibility to speak in more complete/sensible terms.
