    Could you please tell me the difference in meaning of the following:

    I went to the station
    I was going to the station

    It's a matter of how we see a situation - the first sentence tells us about the completion of the action of going to the station, which implies that you got there in the end. The second sentence tells us that the action of going to the station was in progress, and doesn't give the impression that you finally got there.
