    Pariticipal construction

Hi, there. I have a question.

When he saw a policeman, he ran away.

    can be changed to

Seeing a policeman, he ran away.

    Now then, how about

Though there used to be a post office at the corner, it has now moved near the city hall.

    and

Though it must have rained, the road is all dry.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Pariticipal construction

Thank you, BobK, for your answer.

    A little more help, please.

What I want to know is how to change into participial structure such a sentence as

Though there used to be a post office at the corner, it has now moved near the city hall.

    or

Though it must have rained, the road is all dry

In other words, how do you change a sentences with an auxiliary verb to a sentence with a participial?

    Re: Pariticipal construction

The post office, previously situated at the corner, is now nearer the City Hall.

The road is dry, in spite of its having rained.

    or

The road's dryness is at odds with there having been rain.

or... there are others, but they all seem similarly artificial. The active voice is much better here. You can congratulate yourself for not having been able to find examples!
