    Red face Mrs Gallagher

What does 'pp' stand for when writing a letter and where should it go, above or below the name?

    Re: Mrs Gallagher

It stands for per procurationem (by agency), a Latin phrase meaning that you are signing the letter on somebody else's behalf

It goes in front of the name of the person from who the letter originates, under the signature of the person actually signing.

    "Yours sincerely,

    Kath Jenkins

    pp Sidney Jones,
    Managing Director."
