    take the low road

Could you please explain the following expressions in bold in easy English?

    1. No matter what happens, when it comes to firing people, you must resolve to remain calm and unruffled........ If necessary, you can explain to the other members of your staff that this person is no longer with the company. Do not take the low road. Explain that you had decided that the employee was no longer the right person for this job.

    2. At least at the beginning, the only thing that pays $50 an hour initially is customer acquisition. It is prospecting, presenting, and closing sales. It is finding and getting people to buy and getting them to pay in a timely fashion.

    Thank you.

It means, do not bad mouth the person, say negative things about them to justify the firing.

'prospecting' means searching for something valuable like gold or silver. Here it means to search for customers, then present an effective sales pitch. It is defined in the next sentence where it says; "finding and getting people to buy".

    Thank you.
