    Can you please tell me if it is necessary to use a comma after the words Thank you? when writing a letter

    Sorry for being a bit vague. I work in medicine and the letters are usually to Doctors and begin with the line

    Thank you for referring this 55 year old gentleman to my clinic . . . .
