    Plz, explain the meaning of the second part of the sentence?

    'Six or seven men were sitting easily around a table and each of those six men was a man of some importance in his own line.'

    ... each of those six men was a man of some importance in his own line.

    a man of some importance in his own line of work/business = A man of importance in his field of business.
