    Smile walk past/by you

You won't see boring ghost costumes. Instead, twenty-foot caterpillars and an entire deck of cards walk past/by you.

I presume walk past and by you both sound right, but are they the same in meaning to you? Thanks.

    Hello Angliholic!

In this context, 'past' and 'by' are interchangeable.

Yes, they have the same meaning. Being "interchangeable" means that they have the same meaning.
