    A question

    Hi everyone,
What is the difference “an eye for an eye” and “let the punishment fit the crime”?
    Thanks.

An eye for an eye often it refers to capital punishment. You have murdered someone so you must pay for the murder by being put to death yourself

let the punishment fit the crime in the case of a murder, the accused murderer may be sentenced to life in prison (usually 15-25 years with restricted opportunity for parole)

An eye for an eye is a biblical punishment form whereas let the punishment fit the crime is a more modern idea of punishment.
