    come in the back way

    Hello everyone,
I'd like to ask about the meaning of the phrase "come in the back way" in the following context.

Lieutenants Anderson and Lemish had peeled off to the right with 1 and 2 a little bit earlier to head down to the Marina and come in the back way. Just before reaching the hotel, Lieutenants d'Agostino, Giughan, and Demitrijian took 3,4 and 5 off to the left to go around to the far side of the convention center.

All buildings usually have a front door and a back door.

come in the back way means they took the route to the back part of the building or area.
