    chicken

What word could I use here: to mean that he somewhat cows to talk to her....

Jack feels _____ to approach Mary, the one he had crush on.

    * And please suggest a better expression than the one given. Thank you!

We've got a word in Filipino that only refers to someone who has eyes for some girl. I wonder if there is such a term in English.

John has a crush on Mary, but he is shy about approaching her.

    Re: chicken

What a shame, we don't have a direct counterpart.

Yes, there is a word for it in English, infatuated. You can also use the word 'smitten'.

    Wholeman

These words mean that someone only had eyes for a specific potential lover.

They will not fit your requested sentence as written however.

I don't know how exclusive the Filipino word is, Wholeman, but I don't believe that smitten or infatuated denote that "someone only had [has] eyes for a specific potential lover".

Initially, I didn't make the connection of the title 'chicken' to the blank.

Blouen, what does "to mean that he somewhat cows to talk to her...." mean?

    Re: chicken

By checking your thesaurus, you would have discovered this description:

    smitten

adjective Affected with intense romantic attraction: enamored, infatuate, infatuated. Slang: gone. See excite, sex
    And also this one:

    infatuated

adjective Affected with intense romantic attraction: enamored, infatuate, smitten. Slang: gone. See excite, sex
