    flattering

What common expression do you to tell someone to stop his empty flattery?

    Re: flattering

"Stop trying to suck up to me!"

"Will you back off? If I stop too quickly, I'll have to pull your head out of my ass!"

"Don't be such a kiss ass!"

"If you don't stop slobbering all over me, I'll need to put on my 'Helly Hansens'!"

Note: The 'Helly Hansen' company makes high quality rain gear.

I hope at least one of these is adequate for you.

    Re: flattering

Keep in mind that many of Wholeman's suggestions are somewhat crude and not suitable for polite conversation.

    Some more generic terms are:
    "Flattery will get you nowhere."
"If it gets any deeper in here, I'll have to put on some boots." (a reference to the manure he's shoveling )

    Re: flattering

I'll keep it in mind Ouisch!
Are there any direct, but not too harsh, expressions I could use and that non-natives could easily understand.

    Re: flattering

    Falseness is not endearing.

    Re: flattering

Don't be a creep. (falls somewhere between Ouisch's politer forms and Wholeman's full-on ones)
