    seals

    Hello everyone
I'd like to ask what the word "seals" means in the following question.

Vega undid the seals and removed the helmet.
It's about an infantry soldier wearing a battlesuit. His helmet does not work properly, so he took it off.

    Does "seals" mean "fasteners"?

Yes. That is what seals means in this case.

    Re: seals

They are the rubber or composition surfaces that form a vacuum seal on certain types of helmets to prevent [for example] water or other substances from reaching the face. They have to be released before the helmet is removed.
