    gap-filling sentence.....help!

this is one of those texts, choose the best answer to complete the sentence...most of it was ok, but there is one part in it where i just got totally lost

"....What cannot be denied, of course, is that some of the most successful video games are also the most violent and it would seem that they owe much of their popularity to their violent character. (1) ______________, the plain fact is, non-violent video games just do not (2) ______________ commercially, whereas their more violent counterparts do.

    1.
    a) Even though
    b) As regards
    c) In case
    d) What's more

    I eliminated a) & c) but b) & d) are confusing me

    2.
    a) catch up
    b) get off
    c) pick up
    d) take off

on this one im...hmmm utterly confused.... I always come across new meanings of phrasal verbs so, i really have a hard time with them sometimes

    pls help! need it urgently

    thank you Anglika

I was aiming on "what's more" yet I wasn't sure

as for "take off", can it have the meaning of something becoming popular or successful? (in this context referring to the video games)
