    hit one's straps?

    Dear teachers,
If someone hit their straps, it means what they do?
    Thanks.

    Re: hit one's straps?

It appears to have come from Australia.

When a team of horses is harnessed, the harness is often slack before the animals start to pull. When they are working as a team, the leather straps in the harness snap tight, and it shows that the animals are pulling strongly.

It means that one is now working hard.
