Wish I may wish I might

Can someone explain me the phrase "Wish I may wish I might"?
What is the meaning and when is it used?

    Thanx a lot!

Re: Wish I may wish I might

It is from a poem that children say when they see the first star come out at night.

    Star light, star bright,
    First star I see tonight.
    I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have this wish I wish tonight.

See, children always understood that 'might' was never the past tense of 'may'. They just couldn't get it across to the blockheads that write style manuals. ;)
