    Smile to field/deploy the player

It's important for a baseball coach to field/deploy the players in a game.

Do both field and deploy fit in the above sentence and convey about the same idea? If neither, what is the right verb that works there? Thanks.

    Re: to field/deploy the player

'Deploy' suggests strategy and thought, while 'field' just suggests putting them on the pitch to me.

    Thanks, Tdol.
Could you come up with a better verb to fit in the base sentence?
