Let your goals [aims] indicate what you are prepared to take the responsibility for.

I'm confused about the meaning of "accountable" in the folowing, although I know its literal meaning (=be responsible for).
Could you paraphrase the sentence in bold in easy English?
Be accountable through your goals. Goals challenge us. They stretch us to think bigger and try harder than we would without them. They help us measure our progress through life. When set for the right reasons, goals motivate us to take action when we're tired, to dream big when we're feeling small.........
Thank you.
