    Question Sit down properly

Hello, I am trying to translate some classroom language and I don't know whether this sentence is correct or not. Can you tell a pupil "sit down properly" when he is not sitting in a correct and appropriate way?
    Thank you!!

If you say to the child, Now sit down properly , it suggests that the actual act of sitting down was improper in some way.
If the child is sitting at his desk, and he is slouching over it, you might say,
    Sit up straight
    or just,
    Sit properly

    Re: Sit down properly

Some of my old teachers went through a long list of "sitting" commands to call us to order: "OK, everybody pay attention, sit up, eyes forward, both feet on the floor..."
