    About "slit-skirted dollar"

    Dear teachers,
Recenly, I saw "While horrified by its contrasting wealth, poverty and corruption, I was bewitched by the beauty of Chinese women - especially by the slim, slit-skirted dollar a dance hostesses in the cabarets."
What is the meaning of "slit-skirted dollar" in it?

    No...It is not a "slit-skirted dollar" rather it is a "slit-skirted dollar a dance"

The hostesses wear "slit-skirts" (which I personally find very appealing) and they charge a "dollar a dance" for their dance services or at least the Chinese equivalent...it roughly establishes the charge for such services.

Actually, the grammatical unit is 'slim slit-skirted dollar-a-dance hostesses'. (with my additions)

The two underlined compound adjectives and the other adjective "slim" modify the noun "hostesses".
