    Ms

    PLease explain this sentence
"Observe three children, three years of age or older, for a few days. Using a table, based on the example provided in the Additional Resources section at the end of this Competency handbook, note each time you observe one of the children engaging in each type of play."

I want to know if i have to observe until i can make a note on every child engaging in every type of play or am i finished if i have notes on any one of the children engaging in all types of play?

As I understand the instruction all you have to do is observe three children for a few days.

Few is undefined so I would probably expect three or four days.

You then note when they play with the different types of equipment. If none of them use any of the equipment I would suggest your table will reflect this.

If you remove all of the sections of text between commas it will read as follows.

Observe three children for a few days. Using a table note each time you observe one of the children engaging in each type of play.

The sections in commas add some context or further guidance.

    Hope that helps,

    Andy
