    stephen hawking

I have somewhere seen the spelling Steven on the Internet . Given that Stephen has a variant form called Steven, are we justified in respelling it to call him Steven Hawking?

What do you mean by 'justified'? His name is StePHen. Ask my nephew Steven whether it matters how you spell it!

Wikipedia foresees the mistake, and re-routes the misspelt version to the right text; that doesn't make the wrong version right. (Stephen Hawking - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
