    learning / learn

    TEACHERS.
This is a sentence of my friend's English teacher.
The methods of teaching English have been improved, because there are more and more people learning English.
    Please explain me:
which one is correct: learning or learn ?
    Thanks a lot.

I am not a native speaker but I think that you can say either

The methods of teaching English have been improved because there are more and more people learning English.

    OR

The methods of teaching English have been improved because more and more people learn English.

    Re: learning / learn

As Hanka's sentences indicate, you can't simply substitute one for the other.

    Re:

That sentence seems to me to stand on its head. It says that because more and more people are learning English the teaching methods have improved. However, the writer probably intended the opposite meaning. Perhaps:
Because teaching methods have improved, more and more people are learning English.
