    Smile look at the fingerprints of people to identify/recognize them

    Today, we can make our computers look at the fingerprints of people to identify/recognize them.



    I suspect that both identify and recognize fit in the above context and mean about the same. Your advice? Thanks.

    They can both be used.

    The sentence would be better as "we can program our computers to identify/recognize people's fingerprints".
