    i am going to see my girlfriend tonight.

    i am going to see my girlfriend at night.

    are both possible?

    what's the difference?

    when to use one or the other?

    "Tonight" is very specific: I'll see her on this calendar date, November 25 2007.
    "At night" could be any night. "I'll see her at night" could mean "because she works during the day," "because we're going dancing, or to a movie", "because we want some secrecy and privacy."
