    "i come to know"

    i would like to know if there is a usage "i come to know" is in practise or not.

    i had an argument regarding the use of this phrase with my colleague . can you please let me know whats true.

    can i use the sentense" when i came to know about the accident , i was shocked"

    It's fine in Br English, though maybe not in Am E.
