    teaching science

    Hi,

I learned english as second language in my country. My major was science. In exams, we gave our answers in English but nobody cared about grammer. But now I am realizing that sometimes I write run-on sentences, fragments, and few other grammer problems. I want to pursue my career as a Science teacher. For teaching I have to pass the written exam- English essay. I don't want to take the exam without preparation. I don't have problem in organizing essay, but still, I make some grammer error. What can I do to improve this problem. I have been taking some English classes. I am also learning some new vocab. daily to write good english. What else I can do? Please help me.

    Thanks

Are the English classes specifically for the exam you need to take? If not, can you find a course that deals with the exam?

    Thanks
The classes I am taking are english essay writing classes. There are some workshops that deals with the exam, but these workshop are only for 2-3 days.

Can you get hold of past papers and a syllabus for the exam? If so, you will need to focus on those areas. Essay writing will only help you with specific skills; if the exam has other components, it won't help much in those areas. With most exams, an understanding and detailed knowledge of what is in it and what is expected of you will stand you in good stead, and this is something that won't come from general courses. I would strongly advise getting past papers, working through them and discussing the good and weak points with your teacher if possible, or getting some help analysing.

Try putting individual questions up here in the forum where teachers can look at them and help you with what the examiners are looking for, etc.

One doesn't improve problems. One solves them.
